They're creepy and they're kooky, mysterious and Spooky, They're all together ooky, The Addams Family..
YOU guessed it my friends...tonight we went to see an amazing musical..The Addams Family! It was literally one of the best times I have had in a very long time! The jokes were fabulous, actually down right hilarious! The kids laughed, they loved it! Not only did they love it, but each of them was incrediably appreciative for the chance to see a musical on Broadway!
Seeing a play..any play is always a treat and you come out feeling so good. We have seen quite a few in TO, but having the opportunity to see a play with someone like Nathan Lane in it was totally amazing!
It really was a different feeling seeing a theatre production in NYC. What an experience, you kinda feel like part of the production. During one scene between Gomez and Mal ( father of Wednesday's boyfriend) were discussing their kids relationship and a joke was made by Nathan Lane. Well the actor who was playing the other father ended up cracking up at Nathan (Gomez) and could not stop laughing. Well the whole place broke out into laughter..even Nathan couldn't control his laughing. It was so funny, they ended the scene with a quick joke and just exited the stage! It was hilarious!!
Overall the day was a success! It was another day filled with lots of things to do. Our plan was to hop on the bus, go to Brooklyn and then maybe hit Central Park and then go back to the hotel and "freshen up", go out for dinner then head to the theatre. None of that worked out!
We got on the bus in the morning to head to Brooklyn, got accross the bridge and found out that there was NO air conditioning. Boy was it hot!! We quickly decided to exit the bus and walk back to NYC, cross the Brooklyn Bridge by foot.
It was fun, cool for all of us to do. We got some great pictures. The day was pretty much shot after all the walking, we walked so much today! It was so exhausting, we didn't have time to go back to the hotel to get "freshened up" so we had to suck it up, we went out for dinner to The Olive Garden and then walked a block over to the theatre.
The girls enjoying a "virgin" drink at The Olive Garden!
Paul and I in a very happy moment!!
We were a mess but had no choice...we were going in, looking like hell!
We had a great experience tonight as well...it was a good life lesson (I felt) for the kids. Remember the other day when I blogged about the church from 9/11? Well I didn't mention that there was a box for donations and my son reached into his wallet and donated his own money! I was so proud of him...it was a defyning moment for me! Well I told him that what he did was wonderful, and that we were so proud of him and I also mentioned that he would be rewarded for his generosity and I told him to keep a look out for the "pay it forward moment". Tonight we had the moment!!
Me, Kail and Carr in the theatre, waiting for the produciton to begin!!
As we were walking into the theatre I was asking the ticket taker if he could find someone to sit the boys, because we didn't have tickets with them. The theatre didn't have handicap seating in the upper deck so they had to give tickets on the main level. Paul and I could only afford to pay for 2 tickets on the main floor so we let Braden and Spencer take the spots so they could be together. Their seating ended up being, honestly 2 rows from the stage...they had amazing seats! Well, I suppose it was the manager who was watching this all go down, as the young man who was taking the ticket was explaining to me that I can go with them so that I can see where they are seated and then they would seat the rest of us! I was thrilled with that..perfect, I could get a look at where the boys were so that if they needed me they could come and get me!
The manager, met me behind the next doors as we were entering to find the boys seats...she so kindly approached me and asked if we had tickets with the boys? I said no, but they would be fine on their own. The manager then replied "well let me see if I can get you all tickets so that you can all sit togther"!!! We were all like...NO WAY!! These tickets were worth about $250.00 a piece. Sure enough...she comes back with 4 tickets in the same area as the boys..we were about 20 rows from the stage, absolutely amazing seats..and we only paid $60.00, how amazing is that?? That was literally one of the nicest things anyone has ever done! She was pleased that I was able to see the boys from where I was sitting! It didn't appear at all to be a big deal to her...but to us, it was fate!
God, I love NYC!!
