Family Matters Friday...Happy Birthday Finley!
Tonight we celebrated Finley's birthday...WOW did I feel guilty! Her actually birthday was July 27th, however we didn't get a chance to celebrate until today! All was good, thank god she's a dog and seriously has no idea we missed her actual day. She does understand the events that take place the day of someone's birthday in the Martz residence. SO, all afternoon she was snooping around for her presents...she totally sniffed out the new dog bones!
Every year she and Harley do this. Harely gets just as excited regardless of who's birthday it is. This was Ollie's first birthday that he attended in our home. He was just too cute, he eventually got into it and decided to help Harley and FInley open the presents.
Ok, so lets get real!! I know, the majority of you reading are thinking.."seriously Chrissy? a birthday celebration for your dog?" My answer to you is "ABSOLUTELY" who wouldn't want a reason to spend time with your kids, laughing, singing and eating cake?!! We actually started the tradition when Harley was one year old. The kids were little and we kinda thought it would be a fun tradition to celebrate and have cake for Harley. The tradition grew...know we have Finley and she loves her birthday just as much as anyone else in the family!
It was nice, Ethan was here and so was SPencer,Kail, Braden and Paul and I. We sang Happy Birthday in which Harley barked along too...then we served the cake in which Harley didn't wait until he was allowed and gobbled it up so quick...then we let Finley open presents..in which Harley took over and led the way for the others eagerly opening up the gifts actually becoming slightly aggressive at times!
Finley was pleased, she got a new frisbee for the pool, some new dog bones and a happy birthday monkey. The other two puppies got some treats as well!
I know this isn't a typical Family Matters blog..but, it is a matter in my house! It is an important matter..its not really about neccessarily the dogs birthday as much as it is about the "family time".
