Let's get something straight..

I don't mean this in a ignorant or arrogant way at all. I guess lately i've just found myself smiling for the sake of smiling. Don't get me wrong my friends...I am happy, I am not in anyway distressed, upset or angry.

I am just...

Does that explain anything?
Basically for the next little while, you're not going to get to much out of me...and the one thing that I detest is when people think there is something wrong because you may not be acting like yourself. Believe me friends...there is NOTHING wrong, everything is fine, I just feel BLAH!

We have a ton of shit going on right now that we need to get sorted out, I have been in alot of meetings lately and Kail has had ice time everyday so far this month with the exception of Thursday's.
I can't even say that the events that are happening in our lives is challenging, because they are not...they are just busy.
Back in the day...well exactly 16 years ago we were dealing with so many changes and challenges *lightly stated, but harshly felt*
Today I have to admit, we are there again...thankfully without the added health problems. But, we are dealing with so many changes...some good and exciting and some slightly frightening.
Rest assured my friends, no need to panic if you don't hear from me often or I don't respond in my familiar "happy tone" ways with added smilies and hugs and kisses, its not personal.

I remember being in this spot 16 years ago when Braden was released from the hospital and I had so many people coming in and out of my home, I couldn't keep track of every one. It was so overwhelming and I eventually hated everything about it. Man, I was a different person back then. Always making sure that my home was clean, Braden was clean and well dressed. I was always concerned that I was going to be judged on everything going on in my home!
Once again we are having sooo many people in and out of my home and guess what?? I don't care about those things any more!! LOL...seriously, my house was a mess..didn't matter to me. Things didn't start out to smooth either today...
Shopper's home health called to say that they were in my driveway and was asking where was I? They were dropping off a lift for Braden and then later today the OT was coming by to show us how to use it as we were trying it out in order to help decide if we would get one.
I wasn't aware of this...I had no idea they were coming today to drop off this lift! LOL, So the driver sounded a little annoyed that he had to come back to drop it off again...guess what?? Didn't care!! LOL, I had things to do this afternoon! So then the OT show's up later in the day.,..mind you..she was late *frustration here*
I was in the middle of getting dinner ready, Kailey was sick, Paul was going to be home shortly and needed dinner as he was heading back out to play squash and Braden was having a friend over. On a selfish note...I wanted to run this evening, I've been hittin the treadmill pretty hard lately and i'm really impressed with myself! Think I got my groove back!!
Needless to say...we needed to get our shit together. Typically I would have been on a rampage, my house was disgusting, dinner was half ready and Braden (not to embarrass him) was NOT in the mood to have an OT here..so he was pretty vocal about it, but that just gave me another issue to settle over boiling potatoes and cooked meatloaf. UGH!!
So the lady comes to the door, as everyone who know's me know's that there is always a vaccum cleaner hose in my front hallway, at least 4 pairs of boots, 2 pairs of running shoes and 1 pair of Uggs all lying in my front hallway. To top it off, there were shopping bags tossed down and wheelchair tire marks running from the front hallway right through to Braden's media room. I hadn't had time to clean his wheels when he came in afterschool and had run through all the wonderful freshly fallen snow..*sigh*
Guess what??? I didn't care!
But, I ALMOST lost it...yes there's a bit more!
Oliver (my teacup morkie) had not been outside for a pee in about 4 hours...once again, there was no time, I could blame Kailey for this as I did ask her to take them out...but I don't know the specifics so I won't bitch.
Regardless, Oliver is pretty happy to see this lady and decides to dribble his pee throughout my front hallway...the lady removes her coat and boots and then goes to step off the mat. That's when I see the puddle...the OT goes to step right in the pee *insert embarrassed face complete with fear* and I nearly knock her over to help her avoid a wet, pissed soaked sock...UGH!
She recovers gracefully...
My potatoes are boiling over, there is piss all over the floor, the phone rings, I'm trying to avert her around the wet wheelchair tracks...UGH! LOL..
Could this get any better?? Thankfully Braden is old enough to handle somethings on his own during these meetings...so I did take off to get my potatoes drained and mashed, just in time for Paul as he comes in the front door. Dinner was served successfully...lady finally leaves. Due to Kailey's illness she wasn't going to practice...sooo happily we all managed to sit at the dinner table together where I got wonderful compliments on a dinner well done!
Paul leaves to play squash.
Kailey resumes life back on the couch.
Braden's friend arrives, soaking wet from the rain.
I finally get to step on my treadmill and have an amazing run!
Sooo, my reason's for this blog is to share my feelings of being overwhelmed with many changes. There's alot going on, and I'm not going to apologize for that!
Just be patient friends, that's all I ask!!
Good night and god bless~

Happy Birthday to our ole'Harley Boy

On march 7th, 1997 Harley was born. He came to us in April and at the time Kailey was one years old and Braden was 4 yrs old. You can call us crazy as we were extremely busy with two young children and one of them happened to be medically fragile. Was it overwhelming to throw a rambunctious yellow lab into a family who was travelling constantly back and forth to MacMaster University Medical Centre for appointments, admittance and therapy?? It certainly was!! Looking back over the years however, walking in from some of those appointments at MacMaster and having this big, yellow, over the moon happy lab greet us at the door always made it welcoming to come home! There were definatly moments of frustration...he WAS the craziest dog I have ever had! He has always and still remains at 13 years old absolutely uncontrollable! Nothing has ever hindered or calmed his spirit. He is full of life, and he LOVES unconditionally without expectation.
I have had many dogs in my life, but Harley was MY first dog...he was the one who WE owned as a family. He helped us raise our children, he has greeted us everyday at the front door for 13 years. He has protected my children everyday since he came to us. He has slept in all our beds, he has slept beside the beds of sick children. HE has protected outdoor tents while giggly little girls had sleepovers in the back yard. He was waited up until HIS teenage girl has gotten home from school dances. He has always paraded around the pool watching the kids splash, play and swim making sure they were always safe. Harley knows all of my friends kids and has grown up with them, he loves each of them and I swear he knows them all by name. He has stayed beside me through nights of uncertainty, through nights of wanting to give up. He has cleaned our tears, he makes us laugh...HE is our protector! He is loved more than any words can express...He is here with us today and we are loving every minute we still have! HE still lies at the front door, waiting, watching and forever protecting! WE LOVE YOU HARLEY!

I made cupcakes to celebrate Harley's birthday~
I think they turned out really well!! The family loved them and I think Harley especially loved them!

My three puppies...aren't they beautiful, god I love them!!
From Left to Right..
Harley, Oliver & Finley

Family photo...I felt it to be very important to get a family picture with Harley, especially on his birthday. I honestly and not sure how much longer he will be here with us. I know that sounds aweful to some people, but realistically we are aware that Labs live usually 13-14 years, sure there are the exception...but our boy is showing signs of his age, so we will try to prepare the best that we can.

As you can see by the two picture's with Harley, somethings never change! Harley never could sit still or pose for a picture. He has always had way to much excitment and his attention span has never been desired!

Oh here is the birthday boy blowing out his candle...he tried so hard to grab this cupcake without getting his nose seared! I blew out the candle then tried to pry it out of his mouth as he inhailed the cupcake!

Look at him opening his presents...he has always loved to open presents. Even when the kids were little he'd sneek up on the pile of presents quietly pulling one away from their sight so he could rip away the wrapping paper in hopes to find dog bones!
He even tries to unwrap Papa's gifts!

Mac was a guest at Harley's birthday...he got a gift as well to unwrap, they had fun! It was a wonderful birthday, and it will forever be remembered~

Greece, Italy and all the memories...

Well I was trying to find the strength to pullup a blogging topic and start rambling on, but i'm just to tired. So I decided to go through some pictures from Greece, Rome and Italy and post them. I have nothing to say mostly because you did follow me on my journey this time last year, so the details are unimportant. Therefore just enjoy the pictures...on a side note, I am going to be doing another blog on "The Yelling Mom" the reason's being because when I search for who and how people come to my blog through the internet...the number one blog that is seached is this one..The Yelling Mom. I just want to get more publicity more views...so i'm working on something different from the last one but still continue with the same theme.
Enjoy the pictures...Italy, Greece and Rome were beautiful, no words needed.

Something I want to touch on..

Well I have to admit lately I've been addicted, yep I've had a bit of an obsessive compulsion with reading blog of families who have severly disabled children. Sounds weird doesn't it? Now, I don't have hours to spend reading these blogs but I do check in daily and if I had the time I wouldn't leave this dimmly lit computer screen for the whole day. I do want to spend a copious amount of time on this topic, I just haven't figured out my feeling and thoughts regarding the issue. I mean, I do read many wonderful blogs about families who just live their lives to the fullest, filled with incrediable stories and pictures of their daily living. Families who share their happiness, hopes, dreams and at times unfortunatly sorrow, pain and guilt.
But there is something different in the world of families who have severly disabled children, something that I am trying to wrap my brain around...something I need to understand. Once I do understand it, I will share it with you.
As much as I can understand the feelings of living with physically disabled child, the fights, fears and frustrations that this society places on us.I still manage to find the happiness, love and the greatness that our lives have been filled with by having a child with a physical disability. This has been a new experience reading about some of these families thoughts and how they view their lives or their childs life. I am addicted, I am amazed and I am intrigued.
I will keep you posted, I am working on finding the right words to put in writing without implying something that may not be exactly how I feel...
I am so happy that I came back to blogging, this time its led me down a different path...just hope I don't stumble and lose track of the paths that i've already taken!

It's My Party...

Ok, well something that you may not know is how rough of a week I had last week. Things could have went down completely differently if the boy hadn't have gotten so sick. Like I had previously posted I had a couple sleepless nights, filled with crazy busy days. I CANNOT get into the work that is involved when B becomes ill. I HAVE to respect his privacy. I am also NOT complaining, I am fortunate enough to be a "stay at home" mom who can commit my time and energy to him...and I am blessed and thankful for that! However, what you do not know, or can understand is how an illness effects him...its a whole lot different from the way it would effect you or I. My time and days are spent, literally tending to needs of a fragically ill teen boy. Once again...there will be no details as I love and respect B's privacy.
So, with that said my 40th birthday was going to be spent watching a movie with a friend and sharing a bottle of wine.

I was too tired for company, I did not want to host people here and B definatly didn't want people here. Up until Saturday morning we were going to cancel the plans...but then B stopped throwing up and said that as long as no one comes in to bug him *wink wink* and respected his wishes he would be fine with having my time and attention shifted towards a night spent with girlfriends. Needless to say...it was a good choice. A few very important friends came over with snacks and drinks, it was going to be an early night, we would look at pictures, share stories, drink wine, listen to oldies and maybe show our new dance moves...that would only be if the wine was making us feel right.
Everything was going good, I had decided to try a new "special martini" and it turned out to be a hit. It was very difficult to stop at one drink...they really were tasting so good. Unfortunately due to lack of knowledge...this drink was one of surprise~
We were not expecting the severe reaction followed by consumption!! The side effects were hilarious...check out the pictures below!! My friends were definatly NOT themselves..it was like I didn't even know them! LOL..

I can't even begin to explain what was happening here...this picture should be censored, LOL, if you can just use your imagination and if you know Colleen and Michelle and know them together...i'm sure you could figure it out!

My birthday was outrageously fun, we had lots of laughs...lots of talking and sharing. It was a night of girl things..only meant for girls!
I truly felt loved, we each had stories to share of the significance of our friendships...why each person was so important to me! I literally had 5 of my most favorite friends there...from my longest friendship down to my newest friendship...it was a night to remember!
Thankfully do to good choices...I will always remember!
My bestest Candy made me a DVD filled with wonderful pictures and memories of years past. So many pictures of us growing up and sharing moments in our lives that were so important. I absolutely love this DVD and will cherish it forever...thank you Candy~
I also was surprised with 2 gorgeous birthday cakes...one of the torso of a very fit young man with a "package" that was consumed by Michelle without even giving me a chance to cut into the cake..LOL..she really loves..c**k..(inside joke!)*giggles*

My ever so lovely friend Sue actually took the time to make me cake (picture below) of a candy box filled with chocolates. I think my favorite part of that cake was the tiny signature candy shaped dragonfly that she uses to personalize her cakes. The symbolism of that dragonfly is in my heart...and I loved it! Thank you Sue for taking your time and spoiling me with a wonderful cake that my family and I enjoyed on my actual birthday.

Overall..I must say I am truly blessed with the best girlfriends anyone could ask for, I am so loved...and I felt it that whole night! Thank you ladies for a great night after such a tough week.

Colleen just staring out with on the drink of the night..things just got crazy from here!

Michelle and Heather...this was the beginning of the night before Michelle started to use her hands to talk and her n..... to ....!! Due to the graphic nature of the events followed I had to bleep out the words..sorry, as much as i'd love to share to boost blog views...I love Michelle to much to devuldge!! *Sigh* I do however have pictures that I will hold for future bribes!! Gotta love having the upper hand!

This is Sue actually enjoying her drink complete with ediable stars...which happened to be the highlight of the night *smiles*
I do believe this was the picture just before Michelle started to use her hands to talk in Italian again...right before Sue fatally lost her drink in an accident caused by flailing hands...I also lost a wonderful martini glass which was caught in the crossfire..LOL

Candy feeling no pain, listening to the stories, laughing, drinking and waiting patiently for us to get our shit together so we can go watch the DVD she worked so hard on! It was certainly worth the wait..and it was the perfect end to a perfect night!

Cake Balls...yep thats right we had a cake penis and cake balls...do you see a theme here?! These were a hit, soooo good, love them and once again thank you Sue for giving us a piece of heaven!

40 Candles...ya that's what it looks like!
The rest of the pictures were taken at the end of the night, before the girls were all being picked up!
Thanks again ladies for a wonderful night...just a couple of you yet to join the 40 club, I will be waiting!!
