Kailey had physio today and was cleared to get back out on the ice! Finally our girl can work her endurance back up and start playing. Its been a rough couple weeks, but we are on the mend and ready to play.
My exciting news has to wait until tomorrow, good night my friends and god bless~

Wednesday's Reflection..

Well now isn't this an oldie?!
HA.
This was taken probably Christmas 1974 and I am sure we were visiting friends of my parents. I actually have a ton of old pictures scanned because this weekend at my mom's birthday we played a special video soley dedicated to my mom. It was pictures from way back, I believe the oldest one was taken when she was just 17 years old.
In this picture my mom is pregnant with Shaun, my brother. I unfortunately do not remember anything about this time, but I thought I would share it anyways!
Good night my friends and god bless...

Knock Knock, who's there?...

Today I visited a young lady who I use to mentor back when she was a pregnant teenager. Today she is a mom of a 4 year old who has been adopted by a family in the region. I would like to say that I think they are a good family, but unfortunately alot of truth came out lately about this "christian" couple and it has changed my opinion of them. I won't get into that...but let me just say this couple is no longer together and currently have 2 new children from other partners! All that within the 4 years they adopted my little friends baby.
So, 2 years ago this friend of my delievered another baby boy but she managed to keep this one. It's been a struggle for her...lately her priorities have not been in order and today I could definatley see that.
I went to her home and was very disappointed to see the shape of her apartment. It was filthy, there was no food and absolutely no toys for this little boy. I was really upset. The place wreaked of smoke, there was cat hair everywhere and dirt everywhere my eyes landed. I have never really had an issue with her before, this behaviour is new...my heart went out to this little boy. Some things were said...some that were concerning. After my visit I have decided that I am going to get a little more involved, keep a closer eye on this little guys environment. I won't disclose much info. about my visit but just trust my judgement with what I saw and heard today...there is a fine line of what is safe and what is not. What I heard today about her life choices and her boyfriends lack of support financially, and the fact that he seems to be stealing from her, smoking, drinking and doing drugs...I will become a constant knock on their door! Family and children's services are involved and I asked her what her plan was going to be if the baby was taken from her. She said that the adoptive mother of her first son is going to take him until she can get him back. I am actually a bit uncomfortable with that, I haven't said anything yet because I do agree that the two brothers would be better together. The problem that I have is I do not believe this other mom has my young friend in her best interest. I think she wants to get her hands on this little boy too...for all the wrong reasons. I am not sure my young friend would even get her son back if this other women gets him in her custody. As long as this young lady has the support and education needed to raise her son, she would do a great job. I have no doubt about that, the system needs to put some support into her home. She does need to be taught many things, like keeping a clean home, reading to her son, age appropriate toys, childhood milestones that he should be reaching..all these needs that are not being met. I am not even sure if he getting nutritious food? I will become involved, I think its time I make myself present. I told her today that I'd like to take him once in awhile..just to spend some time with him, maybe i can make a difference even if its a small one!

OH Christmas Tree...

INTRODUCING the Martz's family Christmas Tree... Isn't it beautiful? I can not wait to decorate it! Tonight Paul, Braden and I went to get our tree. Kailey stayed home to do homework and we missed her, she is always there to help pick out our tree. After our tree shopping we came home and I wanted to try a new drink recipe. I watched Cityline this morning and saw some pretty cool drinks for the holiday season. So I want to share them with you!
I also wanted to share some pictures from our drinks that we made this evening...hope you enjoy. Truly this drink was great, we had alot of fun!
I am sorry this blog is late, i was trying to upload a video from cityline but it just wasn`t working. I will share with you the pictures that I took of Paul and Braden enjoying this yummy christmas drink.
Ingrediants:

1 part/ounce Carolans irish cream
3 part/ounces of Egg Nog

Shake in shaker with ice, garnish with cinnamon stick.
Rimmer:
White chocolate melted and rimmed around the glass
White unsweetened coconut

Next time I try this drink i will crush some candy canes and use that instead of the coconut.
Either way it is a very tasty treat for a cold winter evening.

Happy 60th Birthday to the most amazing mom in the world!

Last night was one of the best nights of my life...do you want to know why?
I showed my mom how much she is loved by so many people. Last night we surprised my mom with a party just for her, it was finally a night all about her!
She deserved nothing but the best, my mom is truly one of the most loved, respected, thoughtful and kind woman you will ever meet. This woman is honestly the strongest person in the world, not only is she strong but she is optimistic, caring and has taught me to always have faith and never give up on anything that I believe in. SHE has always been my rock, she has been the one to comfort me, protect me, calmed me, encouraged me, picked me up when I was unable to walk, at times she has breathed for me. In my most darkest moments, those moments at the bedside when I thought it was the last breath I would ever take...she was the one who breathed for me, until I could breath again. She has always been there, when I was devasted, when I was happy, overjoyed, when I gave up, when I fought, when my babies were born and everytime I thought I was loosing. She always know's when to sit and listen, she know's when to talk, she always knows what to say. She has taught me to be the best that I can be.
Last night was about HER!
Her job in this world has not always been easy and continue's to be a challenge at times. Regardless of the situation she has never judged, she always forgives and she continue's to wait for you to return. In hopes that someday you will...until then, she waits!
I am and continue to be the luckiest daughter in the world! I have been blessed...and I will never take her for granted.
Follow me in the pictures below, hope you enjoy the picture's I chose to share. It was a magical night, thank you to all of you who came and spent this amazing night with an ever amazing woman.

These little puppy cupcakes were given to the guests as a parting/thank you gift. Everyone know's how much nana loves dog's, what better way to send the guests off than with a "puppy cupcake"

The dining room, this is where I set up tables and chairs for dinner to be served. It was important to me to be able to have everyone together and sharing in the evening during a sit down meal. This is my rec-room, we had to clear out the furniture to make room. It turned out perfectly, it was beautiful.

This is my two uncles and my aunt along with Ethan waiting for nana to come. We had about 30 people here and everyone showed up on time and the surprise followed through perfectly.

More of the family waiting for nana...it was nice to have Braden's friend Emily here to help serve the guest drinks and make sure they were comfortable.

The lady to right is my mom's boss at work and someone who my mom just adore's. It was wonderful to have two of my mom's co-workers present last night. I know it meant the world to her. She lives to have those she loves in her life!

Nana coming in through the front door, still not expecting anything. Ethan greeted her with a big "SURPRISE" but she still did not clue in...it took her to come around the corner into my kitchen and see 30 people standing in my kitchen with tears in their eyes for her to get what was happening.

And the tears begin to roll as she realizes...

Sharing hugs with Terry, a friend close enough to be family!

Mom with her special friends from work

This gift was an extremely generous one given to nana from her Deb. Deb is an artist here in Cambridge and my mom has loved this painting from the moment she saw it. Deb was gracious enough to give it to my mom for her birthday. I know my mom will cherish this picture for the next 60 years! This gift went straight to the heart.

We moved downstairs and waited for the caterer's to show up with our food. There was lots of chatting and laughing going on...it was a perfect night!

Here are our caterer's...this company was the coolest thing ever! They are a chinese food catering company who actually cooks in your driveway and then brings it into your house served hot. I know it sounds kinda weird but honestly the value and richness of this food was extremely impressive. There was nothing cheap about this meal. All of the vegetables were fresh, the meat was cooked to perfection the portion sizes were filling, there was too much food. I would recommend this company for any function that you have.

This is my cousin Terry who I love tremendously. It was a pleasure to have her bring her new boyfriend Ken. This is the first function that she has brought someone too...tells me that its pretty serious. I am so happy for her, she deserves happiness!

Time to open presents...she got the two most favorite things in the world for her birthday...Penis slippers and...

Wine! LOL, great gifts...everyone was so kind and thoughtful with their gifts! Thankyou for your generosity!

It's not a birthday without a picture with your sisters, daughter, grandaughter, neice and cousin...she is loved! XOXO

Blowing out her candles...

Happy Birthday Mama... We all love you so very much!
and mom....
Thanks for always choosing to dance~
