First day back...

I hope everyone had a great day back to school. It was a success in our home, everyone is very happy with their classes and with who is in their class. Paul happily made his transition back to work and everyone was thrilled and relieved to see him. I will say that we are all pretty tired tonight, it was a long long day for everyone. I did manage to take a picture of the kids before they left for school this morning. They were not to impressed with the suggestion but they amused me regardless and I love them for that!

The dogs were in shock and quite saddened with the kids leaving this morning. I posted a picture of them sadly watching the kids through the front window as they leave to walk to school...

Labour Pains...

Here we all are my friends, all of us in the same boat tonight...preparing our kids for school. Its a bittersweet here in the Martz household, happy that they are going to school but sad that its another year closer to the end of their secondary phase of school. Besides the kids heading off tomorrow morning, I am dreading the early mornings and the chao's that follows. I don't just mean with the kids either, we do have 3 dogs which unfortunately are alot of work first thing in the morning! This week is going to be tough, its been about 5 years since I have been on my own taking care of absolutely everything!! I am looking forward to some parts of it, however it won't be long until I am counting down the days to summer holidays!
How did you all start your labour day holiday? We started it with my devilishly handsome hubby making omellets for brunch. I helped him by cutting up the peppers, onion, ham, cheese and mushrooms that he puts in the omellets.

If you were to ask anyone in my household who makes the best breakfasts?? We would all answer the same..."dad"! I will admit my man makes the best eggs "hands down".

Cooking to perfection...way to go hubby!

The final product....delicious!!

You may ask yourself, ok Chrissy why are you posting pictures of an omellet?? My answer is simple...I had nothing planned for Monday's Menu and when Paul starting cooking I took advantage of the opportunity and started documenting it!! Genious...I know!!
Anyways, tonight I walked FInley and Ollie by myself and it was great! They were so well behaved, from here on in I will probably be the one walking them as the evenings will be busy and the rest of them will have things on the go! Tonight it was beautiful out, the streets were so quiet. There was a different aura tonight, it seemed darker and quieter. There were no bikes on the lawns, no one lingering out on their porches or calling their kids to come in from the long summer days! It was nice, it was relaxing...it was autumn!
I am off my friends...good night and god bless!

Well if there could be a perfect day...I must say today was it!

I love this picture of us, we were attempting to get a picture of all of us together out on our nature walk...LOL, look at Finley! I love it, we didn't even bother trying to get another one! This one is perfect!

Yep, like I said as I sit here tonight and evaluate today's events, I will say...it was the perfect day! The weather was of course absolutely terrible, however we managed to find alot to do and make the best of it! Paul and I took Finley and Ollie for a nature walk on a trail going towards Paris. We haven't gone to this trail often but everytime we go...we fall in love with it!
The dogs love this place, we can let them run off of their leashes and they feircly love the freedom. This was actually Ollie's first time on this trail, unfortunately we didn't take Harley as the trail usually takes about 1 1/2 hours which is too much for him. Ollie did fantastic, I worry a little about him because he truly is the world's biggest suck. He needs and wants his mommy (me) at all times and it drives Paul crazy. Ollie adores being held, carried and cuddled. Today though, I made him walk the whole way like a big boy and he did great! He only bugged me twice to get up in my arms....both times I said no, I was proud of both of us!! I bought him this "camoflage" jacket for the fall because Ollie gets so cold. He shakes and shivers and hates being outside when its too cold. So, today we put on his jacket and off he went into the woods. It was the cutest thing I have ever seen. Ollie walked amoung us like he owned the woods...Paul said that he was "stealth"..no one could see him, he was camoflaged into the forest...and Ollie felt pretty cool. I took a picture of him, while he was hiding in the forest...you have to look pretty closely, due to his camo...you can barely see him!! He thinks he has outsmart all of you...good luck finding him, check out the picture below...

Hahaha...did you see him! Pretty tricky huh?? God he is too cute!
During our walk I was collecting acorns for a vase that I will display this fall season, Paul worked his butt off to collect as many as he could for me! It was very nice of him...I just took pictures of random things, including the one below and of course I had to get one of the dogs together...

It was very difficult not having Harley with us, but honestly he would be so sore after walking through terrian, his hips would be shot! Paul took him for a run around the block when we got home, I know its not the same but he still enjoys it!

Pretty Finley! Such a beautiful dog, we are so lucky to have her!

Mommy's baby boy! Oh god, look at that face! How could you not fall in love??

Me and my hubby...I put my camera on a stump and told Paul to sit on the logs so that we could get a nice picture together...it turned out pretty good! Today truly was a great day...the walk was so nice, we talked and talked about so much. We shared laughs and geniuenly enjoyed eachothers company. It was quality time, even though we have had a year off together, our time has generally been quantity or 24/7.
We have managed to have a quite a few moments of quality time, which has been wonderful and very needed. Today was different, there was lots to talk about but nothing was bad, all things to discuss were good things! Fun things, things that we both agree on and things that we are looking forward to and working towards together! I think we are both looking forward to his return to work, it has been a very productive year. I know he misses his friends and co-workers so it will be great for him to get back and start doing what he loves to do.
Its hard to believe that we are returning too our old lives once again, we haven't had this lifestyle in 5 years...since before I started school. I must say it all worked out, because I am home again and available to Kailey during her first year of highschool. That's important to me, its going to be busy...I am gearing up for this but you know what? I am looking forward too it as well! I miss my old life, I miss going to the gym, taking Braden to therapy appt's and all the wonderful things that come with being an at home mom! These next few years are going to go by so quickly, I guess I should hang around here and enjoy them!

So, after our walk...we went home and I baked some homemade sugarcookies! Like I said what better thing to do on a rainy day...considering all plans were cancelled due to weather! Not only did I make cookies but my parents called and asked for a family movie night!! Seriously could life get any better on a rainy day? I have the 5 most important people in my life here with me, baking homemade sugarcookies while listening to Diana Krall and War of the Worlds playing in my theatre room! Life is good my friends!

My sugar cookies baking...

When I was in NYC we went into a Crate and Barrel and bought these cupcake shaped cookie cutters, so I decided to try these cookies and decorate them! They turned out pretty good! Everyone liked them, mom was the first to try one! She loved it!!

Thanks to my hubby and my family for making this day a great one! It truly was perfect, filled with all the things that I love! A shout out to my friends mommy who is celebrating a birthday today!!! Happy Birthday Lois...love The Martz's!

We visited the Pottery Barn...

Yesterday was a fun filled day of endless shopping! We took care of alot of buisness and everyone will be starting the season in fashion...once again, life is good!
Me on the other hand has put on too much weight to buy any clothes...note* I will lose this weight come September* so, instead of indulging myself in some new clothes from my favorite stores...I bought from Pottery Barn.
Nothing too much, as there was no more funds available after Kailey finished her shopping, but enough to make me smile!! *{shrugs shoulders}
So here below is a picture of my little treasure's, a new cheese cutting knife and serving set and a wine stopper...that literally says.."STOP"

Lovely new wine topper...
Enjoy your long weekend my friends...
For now, goodnight and god bless!

Dinner party with great friends..

Last night we had over a wonderful family for dinner! This family we haven't seen in sometime and it was so nice to catch up and reconnect. We alway's have fun with them. So many laughs...mostly at ourselves and I think that is why we like them so much. Our families are very similiar when it comes to values, raising our children and the importance of family time. It was a lovely evening, thank you so much for the company and amazing dessert! They brought a Marble slab cake which I must say was out of this world. I would suggest to anyone if you are going to a friends for dinner and your job is to bring a dessert...well this one tops it! You will be a hit with your company, it was so good!! I believe it was a turtle cake...

I wanted to try a new dessert for the coming fall season! One of Kail's favorite thing during Thanksgiving is pumpkin pie. I decided to try this recipe for a dessert called "Double Layer Pumpkin Pie" I don't think that I will post the recipe but I will say it was a hit. I didn't expect our company's kids to like it, but they did!! Pleasant surprise and I will definatley be making it over the holidays! I will post a few pictures that I took, because initally I was going to post the recipe...but oh well, changed my mind!!

Some of the main ingrediants needed!

My homemade crust..made from crushed ginger cookies and margarine.

Mixing the pumpkin topping.

The final product...it was so good!
Look at what I was looking at the whole time I was preparing food in the kitchen...how cute is that?

Well we are winding down from the summer...the sun is setting alot earlier. I banged into an old friend today at COstco and she asked me if I had a nice summer? My reply was "it was wonderful, but I am glad it is coming to an end". She said back to me "oh it was too short, it was such a nice summer, I am not ready to see it go!" I thought, well that's nice, I am happy for you! But then I kinda thought...I guess your summer wasn't as busy as mine then! Because, mine was filled with kids, swimming, trips, friends and travelling...I am exhausted! How could I not be ready to say goodbye? I need a rest....
Good night and god bless my friends!
